Here are trends the professionals say homeowners have steered clear of in 2015.
Number 9: "Faux" Finishes
Today's interior design approach emphasizes the use of natural materials, such as wood, stone and glass.
That means fake wall treatments that took the country by storm are no longer in style. We saw this look everywhere and there were so many techniques such as rag, sponge, feather to name a few. Home owners took classes and watched DIY shows to re-paint any faux furnishings, such as walls, ceilings, a dresser or bed frame painted to look like an antique.
"Faux treatments, such as Tuscan paint finishes and marbled columns, are out and have been replaced by more environmentally friendly and natural items, such as wood polls or beams.
Replace it with: A solid coat of paint, possibly an accent wall and wood products such as reclaimed wood.
