Delays
Having the Right Mindset for Building Your New Home
Step 2 – Delays are Part of the Process
There will be delays so learn to manage them.
You or your general contractor will need to be skilled at communication and management with the contractors you select to perform each phase of your project. Contractors will not be on your project every single day.....even days that you may expect them there. Remember most follow through well but your contractors may be juggling multiple project, with scheduling being the most difficult obstacle. Each project is important to these contractors and may have a need to finish up another before or during yours. Delays can be averted by setting your expectations with your sub-contractors. Communicate with them your weekly project schedule, including start and finish dates and let them know up front that you expect them to stay within their work dates so the other contractors can get in and out as well. Don't assume contractors know your schedule and your timelines. They will respect you if they see you managing your project...
