Placement of the Garage

It is preferable to have the garage on the main

level, near a mud room and kitchen. Ideally if from your garage you enter the house through a mud room, then all the clothes and shoes can be left here before coming into the main living area. Additionally this room should be positioned right outside of the kitchen. We have seen some clients have their laundry area and pantry all within this room off of the garage. The last thing you would want is to have your family coming through the garage right into the main living area, where everything seems to get taken off and left. You may find yourself coming into the house with dirty sports attire, heavy backpacks, coats and other objects in the way while you are carrying bags of groceries. I prefer the dirt and chaos to be out of sight and limited to a mudroom or transition area. This is especially helpful if you are prone to having unexpected guests
